Introducing my Kelowna Connection and dear friend and Sotheby's realtor Taylor Krysta Cameron. Here is her story:
I was a big city girl with some small-town roots, living in Toronto for over 25 years. So, it never once crossed my mind that I would uproot the real estate business that I had spent the last 14 years building or my entire life, to move or live anywhere else. Of course, this is with the exception of moving to an island where the sun always shines. I’m sure many can relate.
So how did I end up in Kelowna BC? Truth be told, I still ask myself the same thing. My first visit to Kelowna took place when a colleague invited me to join a marketing team for a new development project he was heading up in Kelowna.
Of course, you can’t market something you have never experienced before, so a few short months later (in winter nonetheless), I was on a plane to Kelowna, a place I had never been before. And, if I’m being honest, I didn't know existed. My initial visit was nothing short of amazing. We spent a week driving among the beautiful postcard-worthy scenery, with breathtaking views of lakes, mountains, orchards, and vineyards as far as the eye could see.
To put this in perspective, I have visited almost every province in Canada, and have travelled, worked, and/or lived in several cities across multiple continents, and Kelowna was truly something I have never experienced before.
For those of you that are familiar with Muskoka, which is often considered ‘The Hamptons’ of Ontario, then Kelowna can only be considered ‘The Hamptons’ of Canada. Also affectionately referred to as “Kelowna-fornia”
My introduction to Kelowna may have been for business but I definitely moved here for personal reasons. It is a four-season playground filled with amenities, adventures, and experiences – regardless of the season. With direct flights from Toronto, world-class healthcare, and a booming real estate market… There is a reason it is Canada’s fastest-growing city.
If you’ve never heard of Kelowna or if you’ve never considered it as a place to invest, live or play, in the upcoming months Bosko and I will be sharing with you more about this amazing city and why you should.
A year and a half later, I can truly say that I've never been happier and I’m thrilled that I get to call Kelowna home. I look forward to sharing more lifestyle and real estate market insight on this great city in the months to come.
